MSN- I.C.

I saw this sign tonight while I was looking for some other photos for my blog and it made me think. We just started a series in MS last Wednesday night called I.C.- Insignificant Christmas.

We dove into the Word through the book of Luke and last Wednesday we talked about the Insignificant Places

in the Christmas story we all know so well.

1. Like Bethlehem—granted, the City of David, but really not all that important in terms of size and clout.
2. Like Nazareth—and even Nathanael asked, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46)
3. Like a manger—a common cow trough but mentioned three times in our text.
4. Like fields—where shepherds watch flocks. The first Christmas took place “down on the farm.”

Granted all of these places were not very significant, but it brought us to the realization that when God comes in all the little places become big!!

So you may say so what does the picture have to do with anything? Here it is ... we all get busy around Christmas (i.e Christmas parties and shopping) that we sometimes don't slow down and take time just to read the Christmas story or even realize the significance of it in our modern lives. As we talked last Wednesday we all may think our workplaces are insignificant places or that our home is an insigificant place, but the fact of the matter is that these places, if we just let God come in, can become major places for you to minister to lost coworkers or neighbors. So this Christmas open up your home and invite some neighbors that may be lost over for dinner. How about invite a coworker that may not know Christ out to lunch. Just some thoughts for you to think about as you and I rush around at this Christmas time.

MSN and PLCA

So I haven't blogged since September, but some sources of mine encouraged me to start again. So I have received some inspiration from pluthpastor's blog and Ketchie's blog. This blog is going to be set up for both Middle School parents (MSN) and for our Creative Arts ministry (PLCA) so I can keep everyone up to date on what is going on in both of these ministries. This time I will try to keep posting at least once a week with ministry notes and some Words on Worship. So any time the title contains the initials MSN that is especially for our Middle School ministry. When you see the PLCA that is for everyone, but especially for our Promise Land Creative Arts ministry. Thanks for checking the page out and check back often or subscribe to the right to receive email updates.

Thank you so much to those who participated in the musical presentation of "Be Not Afraid". This production was very successful we are still hearing how the Lord affected people Friday and Saturday night. I can't wait to see the fruit from the production in the weeks to come. I am so appreciative of every cast and crew member of the production. Thank you. The Lord has really blessed Promise Land with a great amount of talent and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for us in the future as a Creative Arts ministry.

Other's First

Good morning!!

Wednesday night in PL middle school was awesome. God really showed up in our worship. We are in the middle of a series called Others First and Wednesday night we talked about how we are not saved by serving, but we are saved to serve. Galatians 5:13 was where the talk started. "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." Galatians 5:13 (NIV). What we learned was that

1. The start of serving others is Salvation, "You were called to be free"
2. The barrier to serving others is selfishness, "Do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature"
3. The motive for serving others is love, "Serve one another in love"

God has revealed many things to me in this series and I hope that we all open our eyes and realize that there are other people than just who we see in the mirror everyday.
